Dr. John Augustine

Dr. John Augustine, the founding Veterinarian of Midland Animal Clinic, grew up on a farm surrounded by animals in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  He received a BS in Biology from New Mexico State University and then served as a lieutenant in the army medical corp. in Vietnam.  Following his military service he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University.   He and his wife, Diana, moved to San Diego in 1972 to be near better medical facilities for their developmentally disabled daughter, Annette.  Dr. Augustine was instrumental in founding the FFA at Poway High School, and was an active guiding hand in the various 4H animal clubs for many years.  Because of his love of the area, he served on the Old Poway Committee during the formative years.  His favorite part of practice is the relationships he has developed with his clients and their pets.  Many of his current clientele are the children and grandchildren of his earliest clients, and he now gets to treat their animals while watching their families grow.  He feels honored to have been a part of several generations of families, and their pets.  Outside of the clinic, Dr. Augustine enjoys traveling with his family, growing orchids, working in the yard, and taking communion to the homebound and elderly.  He and Diana have three grown daughters—Annette, Debbie, & Amanda, three grandchildren—Camryn, Kyle, & Olivia, and three granddogs—Dallas, Chloe, & Spaz.
