Norman Switzer
Dr. Norm Switzer was born in Pasadena, California, the youngest of four boys. He grew up with a passion for nature, and the great outdoors. After attending Pasadena City College, U.C. Irvine and UC Davis, earning a BS in Biology and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, he moved to Poway in 1985, where he became part of the Midland Animal Clinic family. Dr. Switzer established himself as an excellent veterinarian and surgeon, and fully embraced Dr. Augustine’s vision for the clinic. In 1989, he became an equal partner with Dr. Augustine and over the years they have greatly enjoyed working together to meet the needs of their clients and pets. He is also the veterinarian for, and the Executive Director of, the California Wolf Center in Julian, and has served on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee for the University of San Diego for more than 20 years. Norm's interests outside the clinic are hiking, backpacking, body surfing, playing with his dog Winnie, reading a good book, attending his children's sporting and music events, and rooting for the Padres and Chargers. He has been married to his wife, Patrice, for 38 years, and has three terrific children—Shannon, Nate, & Becca.
